Modern TW 100 animal welfare barn for 1,150 fattening pigs
The Braun family is committed to the future!
The Braun family from the Ried im Innkreis district has been successfully breeding pigs for many years. With the construction of a new AMA TW 100 animal welfare barn for 1,150 fattening pigs, the farm is taking the next step: its own piglets will now be fattened entirely on site.
Intelligent feeding & barn concept
The Spotmix multi-phase feeding system continuously supplies the animals with feed from the farm's own piglet production according to their needs. The indoor area has been deliberately equipped with slurry feeding and drinking troughs in the slatted area so that the straw-bedded outdoor area remains drier and manure removal intervals are reduced. Soaking nozzles also make it easier to wash the barn.
More space & clever muck removal
The TW 100 barn offers the animals twice as much space as required by law. The spacious outdoor area is divided into two mucking out axes.
- Swivel grids in the interior pull themselves out of the manure when swivelled away – hygienic and practical.
- The telescopic swivel grids in the outer manure channel compensate for different widths.
- The pigs can be locked onto the upper channel for mucking out.
The robust grids are deliberately designed to be closed in order to avoid stress for the pigs in the manure area.
Strohmatic light bedding system with innovative automatic valve
One highlight is the Strohmatic light bedding system:
- automatic bedding in both outdoor areas
- for the first time with an automatic valve that individually controls the amount of straw per valve
- Bale breaker processes short-cut or mulched straw without a straw mill
- Dust extraction system reduces dust exposure by up to 80%
- Chain conveyor reliably transports straw lengths of up to 8 cm
The SDUx control system is the ‘brain’ of the system: internet-enabled, remotely maintainable and with an intelligent growth curve. This means that the amount of bedding increases automatically with the weight of the pigs – straw is used efficiently and animal welfare is maximised.
Conclusion: An investment in the future
With the TW 100 animal welfare barn, the Braun family is relying on a clever overall concept: efficient feeding, smart bedding technology and animal-friendly husbandry.
